The subject of calligraphy and lettering is vast. This video introduces the viewer to the exceptional
versatility of the broad pen, and clearly explains the basic principles of letters - which are surprisingly simple.
Made by an experienced calligraphy teacher the video will have particular value for those unable to attend classes or workshops. It may also help the student who has been studying for some time.
Calligraphy is a personal craft and, with practice, any student should be able to develop an individual style and an independent approach to this fascinating subject.
The video includes: explanations of the effects of different pen angles, practical information on equipment; a basic Roman alphabet in capital & lowercase letters, the importance of letter, word, and line spaces; and an introduction to a classic italic hand.
